Methuen, MA — The life of Barbara (Ravgiala) Deacy will be celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 9:30 a.m., at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, Mass.
Barbara passed away on December 24, 2012, at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen, after a long and brave struggle with dementia. She was born in Lawrence to the late Peter and Mary (Repecko) Ravgiala. She graduated from Searles High School in Methuen in 1947, and attended New England College in Henniker, N.H. She had a passion for fashion and art, and was an accomplished amateur in both fields, and continued to paint and draw until she was physically unable to hold a pencil, or brush.
She is survived and dearly missed by her children Barbara Dawn Deacy of Boca Raton, Fla., Richard and Adam Deacy, both of Methuen, and her stepdaughter Deborah Deacy of California; her grandchildren, Trisha Deacy and Adam Deacy Jr., both of Boston; and her sisters, Joanne Ravgiala of Portsmouth, N.H., Gail Ravgiala of Boston, and Dorothy Tibbetts of Williamsburg, Va. Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Richard Ravgiala.
ARRANGEMENTS: Interment of Barbara's ashes at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery will follow the remembrance service.
