Haverhill, MA — Mark L. Goldthwaite, 89, died on September 18, 2013, at Academy Manor in Andover.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Ruth (Batchelder) Goldthwaite. He was raised in Haverhill and West Newbury, and attended local schools, including West Newbury High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, attached to the Army Corps of Engineers. Following his discharge, he began several years of employment with Western Electric and AT&T Technologies as a maintenance and repairman, until his retirement.
An avid naturalist, Mr. Goldthwaite enjoyed rock collecting and also enjoyed horse racing.
The husband of the late Sophie (Schena) Goldthwaite, he is survived by a brother, Robert Goldthwaite of Pennsylvania; and sisters, Barbara Ouellette of Wilmington, Muriel Wanderer of San Francisco, Calif., Verna Pratt of Anchorage, Alaska, and Susan Whitcomb of Acton; a sister-in-law, Antoinette “Toni” Fice of Haverhill; and several nieces, nephews and neighbors.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, September 28, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, followed by burial with military honors in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill.
