Methuen — Irene Furnari, 99, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 9, 2013, at Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center. Irene was born in Lawrence, and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Ida (Cultraro) Furnari.
Irene was raised and educated in Lawrence, and worked as a stitcher at Grieco Brothers for many years. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews, and was always there to babysit when they needed her. She loved to sew for the whole family, and in her time, was a talented hairdresser.
Irene is survived by her siblings, Anthony Furnari of Methuen, Lawrence Furnari of Belmont, Mass., Emily Rizzo and Esta Grillo, both of Methuen; and several special nieces and nephews. Irene was also predeceased by her sisters, Lucy Mancine, and Mary Curcio.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her calling hours on Tuesday, October 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, followed by her funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
