Salem, NH — Dorothy (Lupien) Beninati passed away October 22, 2013, at Greystone Farm in Salem, NH, a few days short of her 90th birthday. A longtime resident of Brickett Hill in Haverhill, MA before moving to Derry and Salem, NH, she wrote poems and short prose prolifically during her retirement and was active in the Brickett Hill Writers' Group. Dorothy loved animals and enjoyed opera, literature and classical music. She raised her children in Andover, MA, where she was a member of Christ Church. For many years she worked as a legal secretary in Boston. While living in Duxbury, MA, in the 1970s, Dorothy served as executive director of the town’s housing authority.
Born in Hartford, CT, on November 6, 1923, she was the only child of Linnea (Anderson) Lupien and Anthony Lupien. She married A. George Beninati, who passed away in 2008. Dorothy leaves a son, Gregory Beninati and his wife, Mary Kay, of Salem, NH; a daughter, Carol Beninati and husband, Kevin McElhinney, of Brattleboro, VT; and three wonderful grandsons, Steven Beninati of Salem and Brendan and Scott McElhinney of Brattleboro.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends are kindly invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, October 26, at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Church, 25 Central Street, Andover, MA. Those who are unable to attend are welcome to join the family at the reception in the parish hall immediately following the service. Her interment in the VA National Cemetery is private. Assisting the family is the Conte Funeral Home in Andover.
