William E. Morin Sr., 70

North Andover — William E. Morin Sr., 70, died October 29 at the Wingate at Andover surrounded by his loving family. Bill was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 14 years ago and it has been a long journey. He was born February 20, 1943, in Cambridge, to the late Charles Sr. and Dorothea (Gorse) Morin.

Bill grew up in Somerville, then moved to Tewksbury, MA, and was a graduate of Tewksbury High School. He worked at AVCO Systems in Wilmington in the Security Department and this is where he met his wife, Mary Ann and were happily married for 46 years.

From AVCO, he then worked for the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) for 34 years before retiring in 2000 when he took ill. He loved his job and everything that went with it. He was awarded a plaque for "Outstanding Customer Service to Customers" of the MBTA by the Board of Directors.

He was a proud grandfather, loving father and the best husband. Bill enjoyed his family tremendously, especially his six grandchildren. He always had a friendly smile and laugh. He was kind and loving and always ready to pitch in and help anyone. He enjoyed his leisure moments and loved his classical and spiritual music... He was a gentle and quiet man with a big heart.

Bill enjoyed trips to the Cliff House in Ogunquit, ME, for their anniversaries. He took pride in his home and loved to garden and cook, especially around the holidays. He was a handyman and carpenter around the house and yard. He was very meticulous about everything he did. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Red Sox; enjoyed all the Little League games and was always a part of them in his earlier years.

Prayer was important to him and he loved his Church. In growing up, he was very active with the Religious Organizations at St. Williams in Tewksbury as well as later being dedicated to his Church here at St. Michael's, where he also worked part time. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this long journey, especially for all the special care from our EXTENDED FAMILY AT WINGATE IN ANDOVER. We are very grateful to the many Nurses, CNAs and ALL the staff that were always there for Bill. Also, thank you to all those from the Beacon Hospice whose presence brought much care and great comfort in his last days.

Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann (Coco) Morin; a son, William E. Morin Jr. and his wife, Kimberly; a daughter, Mary-Beth Ham and her husband, Christopher, all of North Andover; a brother, Charles Morin Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, of Lowell; a sister, Janice Morin of Westboro; 6 grandchildren, Colby, Trevor, Connor, Jack, Aidan, Kiara Rose and several cousins and nieces.
