Michelina 'Mickey' (Marino) DiResta, 87

Methuen — Michelina "Mickey" (Marino) DiResta, 87, of Methuen, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013.

Michelina was born to Adelina (DiVincentis) and Salvatore Marino, Italian immigrants who settled in the Prospect Hill area of Lawrence, where Mickey spent her childhood. She attended Lawrence Public Schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1943.

Mickey was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to James J. DiResta for 63 years, until his passing in 2012. As a couple, they were exemplary role models. She was a dedicated mother and made sure her sons took advantage of every opportunity available to them. She was the matriarch of a loving and supportive family.

Michelina was an avid bowler, who excelled in many leagues over the years. She was also dedicated to her "water-walking" and made many, long-lasting friendships at the North Andover/Andover YMCA. She enjoyed cooking, baking and needlework, and shared her talents with everyone, especially her granddaughter, Katie.

She was a lifelong parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, and she was a proud member of St. Rita Sodality.

Michelina worked at Western Electric, North Andover, Kap's Clothing Store, Lawrence, and she retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Andover.

Mickey will be greatly missed by her sons, Michael and his wife, Rose Marie, Dr. James and his wife, Susan, and David and his wife, Joanne; grandchildren, Dr. Katharine and her husband, Michael Sullivan, Jason DiResta, John Michaei DiResta, Joseph DiResta, Daniel and his wife, Susie DiResta, Paul DiResta, and Nathaniel DiResta; great-grandchildren, Michael and James Sullivan, and Ada DiResta. She is also survived by her loving sister, Mary Balsamo; and many nieces and nephews. Michelina was predeceased by her siblings, Gaspare Marino, Josephine Pennisi, Anthony Marino, Jennie Chiappone, Thomas Marino, and Frances DeBurro.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ashland Farm and Merrimack Valley Hospice House for their loving attention to our mother.
