Miami, FL — Joseph "Joe" Patrick Turrisi died peacefully surrounded by his family and caretaker. Joe was the son of Salvatore Turrisi and Florence (Polizzotti) Turrisi-Brocato. Joe was a native of Lawrence who proudly served in his twenties as a Merchant Marine and later in the army where he found his love of cooking and later went on to establish JT'S on Essex Street in Lawrence, Mass., and Tony's restaurant in Seabrook, N.H., later retiring to Miami, Fla.
Joe's loved ones, friends and family enjoyed his great sense of humor, charm, and his impeccable way to captivate your attention in his tales of his adventures, especially the ones of the dog track with niece, Maria and nephew, Louie. Joe enjoyed playing cards and spending time teaching his grandsons, Jonathan and Jeremy, how to cook and play poker and cribbage. Joe also cherished his daily communication with his beloved sister, Salvatrice. The Red Sox was a passion of his and Sal's and the phone calls during baseball season would go on for hours (if not days).
Joe is survived by his sons, John, Robert; sisters, Jodi, Florence, Cynthia; grandchildren, Sara, Aisha, Sonny (Joseph), and Haley; his devoted caretaker, Heather Virgo; and several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members. Joe was proceeded in death by his sister, Rose Ann Turrisi and brother, John.
