North Andover — Grace (Balsamo) Mistretta, 88, of North Andover died
Monday at Sutton Hill Nursing Center.
Grace was born on September 11, 1925, to the late Matteo and Antonina (DiMauro) Balsamo.
She was educated in local schools and was primarily a
homemaker. In 1981, Grace began working for the North Andover Police Department as a crossing guard until her retirement. She was also employed at one time as a nutritionist for the state program, W.I.C.
A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Grace's home and her gracious hospitality will long be remembered as the center of family functions and get-togethers.
She was a longtime and active parishioner of St. Michael's Church and was member of the parish's Nimble Thimble Club for many years.
The widow of the late Albert A. Mistretta who died in 2009, Grace is survived by her son, James Mistretta and his wife, Denise of Bayside N.Y., and her daughter, Linda Holt and her husband, James Claude of North Andover. Also among her survivors are her sister, Josephine Di Paolo of Methuen, and her four grandchildren, Sean McGuire and his wife, Amy, Tia Holt, Eric Mistretta and Chelsea Mistretta. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Brady McGuire and Campbell McGuire; as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover.
