Calvin Tardiff

Cape Coral, FL — Calvin Coolidge Tardiff, 89, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late George and Mary (Porter) Tardiff.

Cal was a 1942 graduate of Johnson High School. An Army Veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in both the European and American theatres. His decorations and citations included the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon and the Bronze Star for Heroism. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in April of 1946.

A longtime resident of North Andover, Cal was employed at Oxford Paper in Lawrence and retired from Raytheon Corporation in Andover in 1987.

He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Robinson) Tardiff. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Tardiff, and his granddaughter, Kristin Spero, of Cape Coral. He is also survived by his sister, Alice (Tardiff) McAllister and her husband, Dave of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; along with several nieces and nephews.

Cal loved spending vacations at Salisbury beach with his family and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and relatives may attend a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. on January 3, 2014, at the Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy East, Cape Coral, FL 33909. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Cal’s name may be made to Hope Hospice or to the charity of your choice.
