Providence, RI — Aleta (LaCarte) Keogh, 95, formerly of Lawrence and Methuen before moving to Providence, R.I., in 2011, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence. The daughter of the late Laurence and Genevieve (Binns) LaCarte, she was married to the late Herbert W. Keogh.
Aleta was the mother of Richard P. Keogh, husband of Paula Lynch Keogh of Providence, and the “nana” of Megan C. Keogh, wife of Aaron Krajewski of Portland, Maine, and the late Sarah E. Keogh. She also leaves three beautiful great-granddaughters, Alexandra (Lexi) Keogh, MacKenzie Roeder, and Aleta Krajewski.
She was the sister of Marjorie Bleakley of Salem, N.H., and of the late John LaCarte, and also leaves behind nieces, Gean Serrano of Salem, N.H., and Linda Livingstone of Ashland, Mass.; and nephews, Thomas Bleakley of Nottingham, N.H., and John LaCarte, Jr. of New Ipswich, N.H.
A graduate of the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen, Aleta worked at Reid-Meredith Corporation in Lawrence prior to her retirement, and earlier at Hoskins Office Supplies.
She was a member of the Lawrence Women’s Club, the Traveller’s Club, the Lawrence Garden Club, and the Grower’s Guild. Aleta created intricate works of decoupage for family and friends, and was passionate about flowers and gardening. Her flowers won ribbons at horticultural competitions sponsored by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. She also enjoyed travelling to Europe and throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Aleta was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of the Merrimack Valley and the former Christ Presbyterian Church in Lawrence. She served on the board of the Berkeley Retirement Home in Lawrence.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Saturday, December 28, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
