Andover — David S. Klarman, 66, of Andover, MA, passed away on March 31, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill from early onset Alzheimer’s Disease.
David was the husband of Andra Brewer, also of Andover, MA.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, David was the only son of the late Lillian and Martin Klarman.
David graduated with Honors from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a BA in Psychology. He later received an M.Ed in Counseling from Antioch New England Graduate School and an MSW from Simmons College School of Social Work.
In 2010 he retired from the Lawrence Public School system where he worked as a Counselor and School Psychologist for the South Lawrence East School and he also led after school sports and chess programs. Previously he worked for Saints Memorial Medical Center (formerly Saint John’s Hospital) in Lowell where he was a Clinical Social Worker for the Pediatric Counseling and Teen Health Services. In addition he spent many years in private practice, most recently with Willows Associates in North Andover, MA.
David was a big fan of all professional Boston sports teams as well as of his children’s not so professional sports teams. He enjoyed sharing his hobbies of photography and chess, often times teaching courses at local schools. David loved music and attended concerts and festivals whenever he got the chance. He also loved traveling and took family trips all over the United States, Central America, and Europe.
Along with his wife, Andra of 34 years, he is survived by his children, Lee Klarman of Portland ME and Molly Klarman of Fond des Blancs, Haiti; his sister, Trudi Klarman Krasner and her husband, Paul Krasner, of Raleigh, NC; his stepmother, Bella Klarman of Coconut Creek, FL; his stepsister, Lois Lenett and her husband, Steve and their son, Jarret of Lee, MA; and his nieces and nephews, Lori Krasner Thorne and her husband, Bryan Thorne, Ami Krasner, Michelle Krasner, John Brewer and his wife, Stacy, Robert Brewer and his wife, Yuka, William Greczyn and his wife, Kate, and Matthew Greczyn.
ARRANGEMENTS: A service will be held on Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover. Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
