Katherine Farrell Manthorne

North Andover — Katherine Farrell Manthorne, a Boston native, was a Professor of Children’s Literature at Framingham State College. She earned a Master of Arts degree from Georgetown University in American History, and a Bachelor of Arts from Emmanuel College. She was the daughter of Word War I veteran Joseph P. Farrell and Catherine Marie Fallon, originally from Roscommon, Ireland. She grew up in Brighton with her brother, Peter, and attended Notre Dame Academy. She resided for many years in Natick with her husband, Joseph Parker Manthorne (deceased), and their four children, Kathie, Jay, Patricia, and Mark. Later she and Joe retired to North Andover. She leaves behind their four children along with three grandchildren, Shauna Howe, Sean Manthorne, and Brooke Jin Naatz, and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Culkeen. She recently lost her grandson, Jason Manthorne.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are invited to attend a burial service at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.
