Giuseppe "Joe" Pappalardo, 77

Lawrence — Giuseppe “Joe” Pappalardo, 77, of Lawrence passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Lawrence General Hospital. He was born in Italy and was the son of the late Salvatore and Orazia (Raciti) Pappalardo.

Mr. Pappalardo was raised and educated in Italy and came to Lawrence in 1956. He worked as a wholesale buyer for Maurice Sergi & Sons in Boston, and also worked at Northern Landscaping in Methuen, Universal Fence in Lawrence and retired from DeLucca Fence in Methuen.

He enjoyed gardening and enjoyed spending time with his friends at Heavenly Donuts in Methuen. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He wasn’t like any ordinary man, he was much different, and much more than that. He had the biggest heart, and somehow he managed to make everybody smile, when all they wanted to do was cry. He told us that, everything would work out the way it’s supposed too in the end, and somehow he was always right. He had every aspect and detail of what a father and grandfather should be. He always put everyone else before himself, especially his family. Somehow whenever you are with him, all your worries, or stress, just disappears. He may have passed on, but I believe he only passes on, if you let him pass on. If you keep him living in your heart, did he really pass away? He has his mom and dad again. His family misses him more than anything, but we’ll see him soon again, and when we do see him, it’ll be like he never left. He may not have been awake in the hospital, but yet, I know that he knew his whole entire family was there, crying and praying for him. By all of the people at the hospital, for this one man, it just goes to show how special, and amazing this man was. I as the granddaughter of the great guy, am proud to say that Giuseppe Pappalardo, was my grandfather, and that I knew such a remarkable man. I know I am not only speaking for myself, I am speaking for the rest of his family, and everyone that knew him. We will and always will love you. Love your granddaughter, Kara Gendron.

Mr. Pappalardo is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Lucille (Scalora) Pappalardo; his daughters, Grace Caires of Lawrence and Lucille Gendron and her husband Derek of Pelham, NH; his brothers, Alfred Pappalardo and his wife Rosemary of North Andover and Orazio Pappalardo and his wife Rosa of Methuen; his sister, Maria Giuffrida and her husband John of Methuen; his brother in law, Paul J. Scalora and his wife Diane of Methuen; his sister in law, Antoinette Knapp and her husband Dougals of Methuen and his grandchildren, Breanna Caires, Meagan Sarkis, Alicia and Kara Gendron. There are also many nieces and nephews.
