Andover — Henry (Hank) Ronald Himber, 72, of Andover, died peacefully Tuesday November 6, at his home surrounded by family.
Born in Lawrence March 28, 1940 Henry was the only child of the late Bella Medeiros and Henry Himber from North Andover. He was a Seabee in the United States Navy and was stationed in Greece during his service. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Lowell Tech, and worked as a civil engineer for Mass Highway for 45 years. Henry was also part of the Mass Highway bridge inspection dive team for a number of years.
On July 18, 1964 he married Patricia Paone of Winthrop. Together they raised three children: Jennifer Milne of Merrimac, MA, Mimi Keeves of Groveland, MA, and Ralph (Jamie) Himber of Kingston, NH. Eight grandchildren also survive him.
Henry had a love for the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman. He spent many days fishing on the ocean and lakes of Maine and NH in his boat the “El Togus 2”. He shared this passion with family and friends alike. Taking to heart the old saying of “Give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime”. When he was not on the water he enjoyed hunting and cheering on the local sports teams. Henry also co-founded the Bill Koch Youth Cross Country Ski League in Andover and loved to golf in his later years.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Conte Funeral Home 17 Third St. North Andover, MA 01845. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover followed by burial at Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
Henry’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in his name to the North Andover Veterans Services Fund 120 Main St. North Andover, MA 01845.
