Joseph Albert Belanger, 87


Salem, NH — Joseph Albert Belanger, 87, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at his home in Salem.

Joseph was born, raised and educated in Lawrence, Ma. He served with the United States Navy during WWII on board the U.S.S. Mobile. Upon his return from service, Joseph went on to work as a carpenter with the Local 111, both working with various area companies and for himself, until his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and he was an avid reader. Joseph was also a champion pool player. He also assisted as a special police officer for the Town of Salem for many years.

He is predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Habeeb) Belanger. He leaves his sons, Gary A. Belanger and his wife Karen of Methuen, Ronald L. Belanger of Salem, NH and Mark A. Belanger of Londonderry, NH, a sister-in-law, Hazel Belanger of Lawrence, 7 grandchildren, Michelle, Shane, Carrie-Anne, Valerie, Lauren, Amanda and Megan, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends are invited to memorial calling hours on Wednesday, November 14th from 10 to 12 p.m. at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial of ashes to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover.
