Methuen — Dorothea "Thea" (Brosco) Giuffre, 68, of Methuen, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Malhoit) Brosco. She was educated in Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
After retiring as a realtor and bookkeeper, she took great pride in her hostess and ambassador of good will position at Applebee’s in both Methuen and Haverhill. She made many friends with both her co-workers and the customers she greeted every weekend. She was loved by many and had a love of life, laughter, garage sales, Foxwoods, and shopping with Emma!
Dorothea is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 45 years, Joseph Giuffre Sr. She was the mother of Joseph Giuffre Jr. and wife, Heather, of Haverhill, Donna Giuffre and husband, Jay Cohen, of Ft. Lauderdale Fla. She was Grammie of her pride and joy, “beautiful Emma;” sister of Rie Brosco and partner, Naomi Segal, of Philadelphia, Penn. She was predeceased by her brother Gerald Brosco. Her family included many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends, Carolyn Reichert, Pauline Curtis, and Steve Romano.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends will be received at visiting hours on Monday, June 10, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. Lucy’s Church 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen.
