Lawrence, MA — Marion (Brouder) Menery, 86, fondly known as Sissy to her family, died late Saturday night at the MI Nursing home with her beloved daughter and nurse Maureen by her bedside. Marian was born in Lawrence and spent her entire life in the city she loved. She attended St. Rita’s school and graduated from Lawrence High. She worked as an attendant at Lawrence High School most of her adult life. She was also a crossing guard and spent her summers as a playground instructor in her younger days when she was raising her children.
She loved and enjoyed all the simple pleasures of life, but none more than her children and grandchildren. She was Irish, but, being married to an Italian made for a ritual of a Sunday sauce in her kitchen. She loved making meatballs for her grandchildren. Her favorite night out was babysitting the grandchildren. She also loved to sit by the ocean and tell us all how beautiful God had made the world, and how thankful we should be for the gifts we were given. She passed on her enormous faith to us all of her days. She will be remembered for her fierce and passionate days of campaigning for her son Michael who served as an Alderman in Lawrence
She was a true movie buff and enjoyed sharing her reviews of movies with all of her friends and family. And, all her life, she fought through an insatiable addiction to chocolate. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Robert and her eldest son Michael. She is survived by her son, Mark Menery and wife, Patricia, of North Andover, along with their three children, Heather, Robert and Mark and his wife Jennifer. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Menery, of Salem, N.H., and her two children, Jamie and Ryan. She is survived by Michael’s three children, Rayanne, Michael and Andrew.
