Sandown, NH — Ronald G. Whitehead, a resident of Sandown since 1998 and formerly of Medford, Mass., died April 18, 2013, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Born in Boston, son of the late Gilbert and Elsie (Wilson) Whitehead, he was raised and educated in Medford and graduated from Medford Vocational and Technical High School with the Class of 1960.
Prior to his retirement in 2000, Mr. Whitehead was employed as an electrician at AVCO of Everett, which later became Textron of Wilmington. He also served as a member of the Medford Auxilliary Police Department for several years.
A member of the Raymond, N.H. Fish and Game Club, The Raymond Sportmen’s Club and the NRA, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, target practice, and computers.
The husband of the late Roberta H. (Blaisdell) Whitehead, he is survived by two sons, Mark R. Whitehead of Sandown and James Polley and his wife, Martha, of Reading, Mass.; a daughter, Bonnie Hendrick and her husband, William, of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ryan Whitehead, Cameron Whitehead, and Jarred Polley; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following in Center Cemetery, Sandown. Donations in Mr. Whitehead’s name may be made to The American Lung Association.
