Salem, NH — Robert F. Martin, Sr. (Bob) of Salem, NH, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away on Saturday April 5, 2014, at Salem Haven Nursing Home. Born on November 28, 1936, in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late Francis and Anna Martin.
As a young man, Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 during the Korean War and was later honorably discharged. In recent years, one of Bob’s greatest past times was riding his electric wheelchair all over the town of Salem. Friends and neighbors would see him miles from home. Bob loved to watch old TV shows, “Leave It to Beaver,” “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Three Stooges" were some of his favorites.
Bob is survived by his four sons, Robert Jr. and his wife, Irene, of Tulsa, OK, Keith and his wife, Carol, of E. Hampstead, NH, Thomas and his wife, Brenda, of Saugus, MA, and Timothy and his wife, Tanya, of FL. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and three sisters, Nellie, Marion and Eleanor. Bob was predeceased by his two brothers, Raymond and Dickie; and sister, Shirley.
His family is immensely grateful for the tremendous care received from his home helper, Leslie.
ARRANGEMENTS: At Bob’s request, no formal services will be held. A small private burial will take place at the family’s convenience at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lawrence.
