Pauline M. (Hussey) Gormley

Groveland, MA — Pauline Marie (Hussey) Gormley, 87, longtime Groveland resident, passed peacefully on Saturday morning at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 62 years of the late Joseph T. Gormley, who died September 20, 2010.

Born in Presque Isle, Maine, on June 29, 1926, she was one of seven children of the late Guy B. and Mary M. (Moran) Hussey. She grew up in Maine, and graduated from high school in Presque Isle.

Pauline raised four children while her husband served 21 years in the Air Force Strategic Air Command, and who was often overseas for long periods of time. She also worked in the cafeteria at the Bagnall School in Groveland, until her retirement.

An avid bowler as well as an avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and all kinds of puzzles. Above all else, time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, was her most favorite. Her fulfillment in life came from helping family and friends through the good times and the bad, and being able to laugh through it all.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Pauline is predeceased by her three brothers, Ted, Ralph and Wesley Hussey; and her two sisters, Betty and Florence. Her survivors include her daughter, Cathleen M. Bergh and husband, Herbert, of Haverhill; her three sons, Joseph G. Gormley and wife, Yvonne, of East Greenwich, R.I.; James E. Gormley and wife, Susan, of Newbury, and Calvin M. Gormley and wife, Nancy, of Rowley; her seven grandchildren, who filled her heart with such joy, Eric, Vanessa and Patrick Gormley, Ameila and Guy Gormley, and Ashleigh and Kayleigh Bergh; her beloved brother, Bernard Hussey of Easton, Maine; several generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and dear friends, all of whom will truly miss her.
