Andover — Gerald A. D’Angelo, Sr. 71, of Andover passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014, at his daughter’s home in Woburn. Gerald was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Ned F. and Giovanna (DiFrancesco) D’Angelo and the widower of Lola (Castle) D’Angelo.
Gerald was educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961. He was a very active member of St. Augustine’s Parish where he served as an usher and also was a Eucharistic Minister. He was also very active with the Lawrence Elks Lodge #65 where he served as past Exulted Ruler and was currently serving as Tiler of the Lodge. He also coached Andover youth hockey for 15 years. He loved to cook and travel with family and friends with an occasional trip to the casinos to pass the time.
He is survived by his loving children, Diane M. D’Angelo of Woburn, and Gerald A. D’Angelo, Jr. and his wife, Judith of Reading; his grandson, David S. D’Angelo of Reading; his brother, Paul V. D’Angelo and his wife, Mary of Methuen; and his niece, Deborah Winslow of Atkinson, N.H.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Monday, April 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for his funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 20 High Vale Lane, Andover. Burial will follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Andover.
