North Andover, MA — Arthur M. Markoff died peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover, Mass. He was married for 57 years to Constance “Connie” Markoff, who died in 2011.
Born in Providence, R.I., on April 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Allen Markoff and Lillian (Bachman) Markoff.
A 1944 graduate of Brown University, he enjoyed music and theatre. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Arthur began his career in the printing industry and later owned a fine furniture store. Throughout his life, he lived in Providence, Westport, Conn., Windham, N.H., and Andover. He participated in Sock & Buskin theatrical performances at Brown, and played clarinet in the Windham Community Band. He enjoyed spectator sports, especially baseball and football.
He is survived by two daughters, Joni Lippa and her husband, Andrew, of Andover, and Marjorie Warmkessel of Millersville, Penn.; and grandsons, Alex and Justin Lippa. A brother, Burton Markoff, predeceased him.
