Mesa, AZ — Joan M. (Murphy) Willet, age 81, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Plaistow, N.H., died on July 9, 2013, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Chelsea, Mass., daughter of the late Francis Murphy and the late Beatrice (Zemoitel) (Murphy) Wiggins, she attended school at St. Rose High School, Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and received her bachelor’s degree through California State University at Northridge. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Boston City Hospital and hospitals in Thousand Oaks, Calif. She moved back to the New England area after retiring from her nursing career and more recently moved to Arizona to be with her family.
A former member of All Saints Parish, Haverhill, Mass., Holy Angels Parish, Plaistow, N.H., and St. Paschal’s Parish, Thousand Oaks, Calif., Mrs. Willet enjoyed traveling with her sister and grandchildren.
The widow of Thomas M. Willet, who died in 1988, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas M. and Denise Willet of Mesa, Ariz.; six daughters and sons-in-law, Susan M. and Jeffrey Sushauer of Arizona, Pamela M. and Gary Barrett of Tennessee, Madelyn M. and Robert Voelker of Arizona, Melanie M. and Marvin Eaton of California, Paula M. and Pable Alcazar of Arizona and Barbara M. and Casey Pond of California; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and George Dionne of Haverhill, Mass.; 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis W. Murphy.
