Methuen — Rose (Brancati) Mosto, 92, of Methuen, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Lawrence General Hospital. Rose was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Domenic and Beatrice (Grasso) Brancati, and the widow of John J. Mosto.
Rose was educated in Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She worked for over 20 years as an Executive Secretary at Western Electric and Bell Laboratories. She will be remembered as a talented and loving homemaker whose specialty was the Sunday dinner for extended family featuring a variety of homemade pastas and pastries which would get everyone off to a productive week at work or school. Rose was a dedicated parishioner at Holy Rosary Church and was a member of the St. Rita’s Sodality. There she served as a committee member and officer where her strong typing skills were put to use in the publication of their first cookbook. She also was a member of the Venerini Sisters Association and the Italian Women’s Club. Rose took a memorable trip to Italy in 1978 and while there attended the wake of Pope John Paul I at Vatican City in Rome. She enjoyed day trips along the New England coast and she especially enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods with family and friends. Rose also enjoyed cooking, knitting, word search puzzles and playing 45's.
Rose will be deeply missed by her daughter, Teresa (Terry) Mosto of Methuen; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Charlotte Mosto, of Salem, N.H.; her grandchildren, Robert and his wife, Fara Mosto, of Salem, N.H., and Alison and her husband, Richard Aziz, of Nashua, N.H.; her two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Molly Mosto, both of Salem; and many other family members and friends. Rose was predeceased by her sister, Lucy Ellsey, and her brother, Peter Brancati.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends will be received at visiting hours on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
