SOUTH LAWRENCE — Arnelle A. Morales, 57, passed away July 22, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her devoted family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 12, 1956, in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Antoine Deus and Aurelia Charles.
Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for innovation guided her through a multitude of ventures during her life, including a career in nursing, home and family life, and community advocacy.
In concert with others, Mrs. Morales organized The Haitian Cultural Group of Lawrence. Later, she established Lawrence’s first Haitian-themed store, La Belle Creole Bazar, where she quickly became the eloquent lady who could be counted on as a reliable source for cultural and civic matters.
Her family will cherish her memory as a selfless individual who was always concerned for others.
Family members include her loving husband of 22 years, Rafael G. Morales; one son, John-Albert Absalon Morales; two daughters, Ardy A. Louis-Moya and her husband Manuel, and Nathalie L. Louis and her companion William Riggins; three granddaughters, Isabelle, Tatiana and Gabriella; two brothers, Jude Charles and Germain Deus; three sisters, Ginette Deus, Katlyn Deus and Luzerne Deus; and extended family and many loyal friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: The funeral will be from The Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, opposite St. Patrick Church, South Lawrence.
Calling hours are Friday, August 2, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 3, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m., in St. Patrick Church. Final acts of farewell and laying to rest are private.
