Haverhill — Mary H. (Regan) English, 103, of Haverhill, died on Saturday afternoon, December 7, at Penacook Place Nursing Home, Haverhill.
She was born in Haverhill on March 14, 1910, and was the daughter of the late John and Anne (Kenney) Regan.
Educated in St. James Grammar School, Mrs. English attended St. James High School.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. James Church and St. John The Baptist Church, Haverhill.
Mrs. English was the wife of the late Jerome H. English, who died in 1984. Her survivors include two sons, Jerome and his wife, Carole English of Jensen Beach, Fla., and David and his wife, Camille English of Plaistow, N.H.; five grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Christopher and John English, and Mary Pagliuso; and six great-grandchildren, Cole, Anna, Brooke, Samantha English, and Michael and John Pagliuso.
Mary was happiest when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always brought something to them left by “the birdie” for them.
She lived a long life, loved the beach, liked to play bingo and win, enjoyed walking downtown with her lifelong friend, Mary McDermott.
Mrs. English’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff of Penacook Place Nursing Home for the excellent care shown to their mother and grandmother during her time there.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday morning, December 11, at 10 a.m., from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer Street, Haverhill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in St. John The Baptist Church, Haverhill. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Due to the tremendous care given to Mrs. English, in lieu of flowers, her family would like to request contributions in her memory be made to Penacook Place Nursing Home Activities Committee, 150 Water St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
