Methuen — Claire S. (Dearden) May, 87, of Methuen, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at Wingate at Andover.

Born and educated in Methuen, she was the daughter of Frederick and Ada (Keithly) Dearden. Claire was the owner of May’s Landing in Methuen, and prior to that worked for more than 20 years at Wirth’s Restaurant.

Claire was active in the Methuen Senior Center and worked the voting polls in Methuen.

The widow of Edward N. May, she is survived by her three children, Edward “T.J.” May and his wife, Mary, of Raleigh, N.C., David T. May of Derry, N.H., and Lori M. Fisher and her husband, William, of Merrimack, N.H.; one sister, Ellen Brothers of Atkinson, N.H.; three grandchildren, Britney, William and Bethany Fisher; and several nieces and nephews.

Claire was predeceased by her son, Barry A. May.

ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Community Services, c/o Autism Center, 144 Canal St., Nashua, N.H. 03064, or to Beacon Hospice, 13 Branch St., Ste. 106, Methuen, MA 01844. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
