NEWTON, N.H. — Mr. Robert K. Lightizer, 81, of Newton, N.H., died Friday, June 18, 2010 at Exeter Hospital, after being stricken at home.
Born in Brockton, and raised in Peabody and Saugus, he was the son of the late Everett E and Sarah (Clarke) Lightizer, and was educated in Saugus schools.
Mr. Lightizer retired in 1991 as the manager of the body shop at MacGregor-Smith Chrysler Plymouth of Haverhill and was previously employed in the same capacity at Ryan Motors.
A resident of Newton for the past 58 years, and an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a founding and life member of the Country Pond Fish and Game Club. He was also a former longtime member of the Newton Volunteer Fire Department and Newton Police Department.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan J. (Eckhardt) Lightizer; three sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Kelly Lightizer of Newton, Mark D. and Marie Lightizer of Newton, and Jeffrey S. and Rebecca Lightizer of Plaistow; eight grandchildren, William R. Lightizer, Nicole J. (Lightizer) Morton, Robert J. Lightizer, Amy C. Lightizer, Elizabeth A. Lightizer, Scot A. Lightizer, Jacob T. Lightizer, and Matthew P. Lightizer, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael S. Lightizer in 2001.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following in Highland Cemetery, Newton.
