Priscilla Ruth Adami

North Andover — Our sweet mom, Priscilla Ruth Hill Adami, born Sunday, January 20, 1924, died peacefully Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10 p.m. at Prescott House, her home for the past four years, surrounded by her children.

Her life was filled with children, cooking, and writing. She combined these talents in a family cookbook containing stories from her childhood on her family farm in Methuen, through to the joy of her first two grandchildren. The book is a wonderful legacy, creatively holding parts of the family history to pass along to future generations. Friends and family, the world over now, share her vision of what family meant to her.

Raising her three children in Portland, Conn. with her then husband, Richard, Priscilla’s passion for fairness in the world, led her to work with disadvantaged children during the civil rights movement. Inspired, she went back to college to get her degree in teaching, where she used a thematic approach, often teaching through cooking.

She loved the beach, with the wind in her hair, sun on her face, breathing in the salty air, happy dogs running. She walked there nearly every day after her move to Kittery, Maine in 1993. She shared this passion with her children and grandchildren. A walk at the beach in all weather can be a meditation, a way of finding inspiration and peace.

She is survived by her children, Meredith (Thomas Koll), Kimberly (Jack Bransfield), and Marc (Leslie Deacon Adami); grandchildren Ryan, Sierra, Kallista, and Lucas.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service honoring her life will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 4 p.m. in North Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 190 Academy Road, North Andover.
