North Andover — Julia A. Warchol 94, passed away from pneumonia Tuesday December 25, 2012 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Julia was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Banas) Malek, was born in Lawrence on August 3, 1918 and was a lifelong resident of North Andover. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of the McIntosh School of Business. Julia was primarily a homemaker but was employed at one time as a decorator with Sullivan's Furniture Store.
Julia was an extremely talented artist and embroiderer. She taught crewel embroidery for many years locally as well as at the Whittier Regional Vocational High School.
She was an active member and past president of the North Andover Women's Club as well as a past president of the Massachusetts District Federation of Woman's Clubs. Julia was an avid gardener and was a member as well as past president of the North Andover Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her husband the late Michael F. Warchol who died in 1986 as well as her two sons Charles M. Warchol who died in 2010 and Richard J. Warchol M.D. who died in 2009.
Julia is survived by her daughters, Joyce A. Warchol and Nancy J. Riccio both of North Andover; and her sister, Melvina Rita Malek of Methuen; as well as her son-in-law, Don Riccio of Methuen; and her daughter-in-law, Tula Warchol of Farmington, N.Y. Also among her survivors are her grandchildren, Robert M. Riccio of Dracut, Lindsey M. Riccio of Methuen, Michael J. Riccio of North Andover, Alexander F. Warchol of Dahlonega, Ga. and Michelle E. Pearles of Farmington, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday January 3, at 10 a.m. at St.Michael's Church in North Andover, with burial to follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery also in North Andover. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, January 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover,.
