Haverhill — Eleanor J. (Quigg) Howard, 73, of Haverhill, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Baker-Katz Nursing home after a lengthy period of declining health.
Born in Frederick Junction, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late, Joseph E. and Martha (Keegan) Quigg. At a young age, Eleanor’s family relocated to Maine where she attended public schools and was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1957. After settling in Haverhill to raise her family, Eleanor always kept her roots in New Brunswick close to her heart while always remaining in contact with family and friends.
Eleanor was employed at the Haverhill Public Library for five years and the former Hale Hospital and later, Merrimack Valley Hospital as the Medical Librarian. She was dedicated to her work and enjoyed the people she worked with. She made lifelong friends at the “old Hale” and looked forward to the “Ex Hale” reunion luncheons held yearly. In her spare time she worked on her crafts or relaxed to her reading.
A devoted mother and grandmother, there was nothing more important to Eleanor than her daughter Veronica and her granddaughter, Nicole. She was a true friend, and if you had the pleasure of knowing her friendship, she would be the only friend you needed in this world. She was a thoughtful and loving neighbor, and she managed the apartment building she lived in for thirty-five years with kindness. She leaves her loving daughter,Veronica “Ronnie” (Howard) Dansereau, and her husband Laurence and cherished granddaughter, Nicole Dansereau, of Acton, Maine; a brother and sister in law, Edward F. and Marie (Gebala) Quigg, of Haverhill; a sister in law, Phyllis Quigg, of Colorado, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Leo J. Quigg and Robert Quigg.
