North Hampton, NH — Doreen G. “Dody” Kolb, 82, of North Hampton, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born October 13, 1930 in Methuen, Mass., the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Vickers) Garlick.
Dody was raised in Methuen and graduated from Edward F. Searles High School with the Class of 1948 and later from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston and Park College in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Kolb was employed by the former Rye Home Center as an interior designer and art consultant for 20 years. She also served as the curator at the Wentworth Coolidge Gallery at the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion in Portsmouth for eight years.
A resident of North Hampton since 1966 coming from Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Kolb was active as a trustee of Union Chapel in North Hampton, member of the North Hampton Garden Club, was a founder and member of the Rye Art Study Group and served on the board of directors of the University of New Hampshire Art Gallery as well as the Currier Gallery in Manchester.
She shared 61 years of marriage with her husband, Francis J. “Frank” Kolb, Jr. of North Hampton.
In addition to her husband, family members include two sons, Francis J. Kolb, III and wife Marci of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mark R. Kolb and fiancée Tracey Milgrim of Wakefield, and two grandchildren Molly and Jay.
ARRANGEMENTS: A service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday February 2nd at Union Chapel 10 Willow Avenue, North Hampton. Parking at Fuller Gardens, across the street. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
