Cheryl Ann Cooney, 51

Andover, MA — Cheryl Ann (Manning) Cooney, 51, of Andover passed away Wednesday January 30th at her home surrounded by her family. Cheryl was born in Lawrence, the daughter of David W. and Margaret ‘Peg’ (Furey) Manning of Atkinson, NH. Cheryl was educated at St. Monica’s Grammar School, graduated from Methuen High School and cum laude from Boston College. Cheryl was employed for 27 years at Alcatel/Lucent Technology in No. Andover, Westford, MA.

Cheryl and her husband Pat met while attending Boston College and celebrated their 27th Wedding Anniversary in October 2012. The love they shared for each other was evident to all who knew them. Cheryl’s first priority was always her family. She faithfully attended all of her children’s sporting events and received great joy in their many achievements. Cheryl loved spending weekends at the family’s vacation home in Bradford NH and looked forward to the annual family reunion in Humarock MA each September. Cheryl loved to read and enjoyed running and being outdoors. She treasured time with her parents, siblings, in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Cheryl was often the coordinator of family events. She will be especially remembered for her love of life, beautiful spirit, compassion, quick wit, sense of adventure and great love for her family and friends.

Besides her parents Cheryl is survived by her loving husband Patrick J. Cooney of Andover, her children Brandon P., Shannon E., & Ryan D. Cooney all of Andover, her siblings Colleen Sheehan and her husband Brian of Methuen, Karen Sapienza of Methuen, Mary Beth Smith of Lowell, and Gail Leonardo and her husband Tony of West Roxbury, her brother David W. Manning III and his wife Kellee of Hooksett N.H. and many nieces and nephews, and in laws. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Steven Smith and Joseph Sapienza.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends will be received at visiting hours on Sunday, February 3rd at Cataudella Funeral Home 126 Pleasant Valley St. Methuen from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, February 4th at 11:00am in St. Monica’s Church 214 Lawrence St. Methuen.
