Elizabeth M. (Brown) Banks, 80

Haverhill — Elizabeth M. (Brown) Banks, 80, of Haverhill, died Thursday, February 14, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late, Philip and Thelma (Galvin) Brown. Raised and educated in Lawrence, she moved to Haverhill and attended Haverhill High School. A resident at Haverhill Crossings for the past ten years, she was affectionately known as Betty Boop.

With the assistance of Dr. Freeman, Betty created and named the Home Start Program. She walked countless miles throughout Haverhill, knocking on doors of families and encouraging them to be part of this new program. It was from this grass-roots effort she mentored many young families in Haverhill. Devoted to her God and knowing He will provide, she lovingly gave of herself to others. Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

She leaves her two sons, John L. Banks and his wife, Marian, of Methuen, and Philip J. Banks and his wife, Theresa, of Haverhill, a daughter, Marlene Northey and her husband, Peter, of Salem, MA, fifteen grandchildren, Keri Paro, John Banks Jr., Nicole George, Kyle Banks, Thomas Tracy Jr, Matthew Tracy, Kelly Tracy, Jeffrey Tiebeck, Isaiah Banks, Steven Banks, Tiffany Banks, Karissa Banks, Jasmin Winters, Destiny Richard, and Shawn Winters. She will be deeply missed by her great grandchildren and all who knew her.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday, from 5 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the

Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in Walnut Cemetery, Kenoza St. Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to the Elizabeth M. Georgetown, MA — Edgar Norton Johnson, 81, of Georgetown, Mass., passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife and family by his side on June 17, 2013. Ted wrote in a journal years ago, "Although I am a religious man, I have found my heaven here on earth with my wife and family." All of his family and friends felt the same way about life with Ted. He first fell in love with his wife, Faith when he saw her dancing in a class at Tufts University, and for the next 60 years cherished his marriage to the most beautiful woman he ever saw.

Haverhill, MA — Jacqueline A. (Grassi) Festo, 91, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died peacefully on Monday, June 17, at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Liberato and Lucia (Berardini) Grassi, she was born on March 29, 1922, and was educated in the Haverhill School System. A member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1941, she attended the Fasio Beauty School and was a beautician in the Haverhill area for over 40 years. Her most recent employment was with her dear friend, Mary Pauline Wyka at Andrea’s Beauty Salon in Plaistow.

Boxford — Parmelia "Pat" Stoughton Willard de Winter passed away June 15, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a short illness. Born in Hartford, Conn., on November 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Howard A. Willard and Virginia McCray Miller Willard. Pat, or Patsy as she was known then, was raised in Wethersfield and West Hartford. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Palmer Southworth Willard, her youngest brother William Leslie Willard and her older brother, John Bleveny Willard.

She attended Somerville High School, and was a supervisor for Sears Roebuck, a secretary at Andover Memorial Library, and was the manager and a bookkeeper for the Andover Thrift Shop for many years.

Atkinson, NH — Peter T. Giuvelis, 89, of Atkinson, N.H., passed away on Monday, June 17, at Salemhaven, in Salem, N.H. He was born in Lowell on September 15, 1923, to the late Theodore and Virginia (Melonas) Tzouvelis. Peter was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School. Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Army during WW II. After serving in the military, Peter co-owned and worked as a technician for Guvelis Bros., located on Emerson St. in Haverhill. In retirement, Peter served as school crossing guard at Walnut Square School in Haverhill.

Methuen — Debby passed away peacefully on Sunday at The Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Luigi and Marie Perrino of Reading, Mass. She enjoyed working with the elderly and any activity that would involve her family, which included going out for dinner, shopping, and spending time with the grandchildren. Her surviving family members include her loving children, Lisa O'Keefe and husband, Christopher of Raymond, N.H., Jennifer Pardoen and husband, David of Methuen, Mass.; and grandchildren, Abbey and Zoe, Pardoen and Zachary and Madison Laliberte. She leaves behind brothers, Luis Perrino and wife, Linda of Peabody, Mass., and Earle Perrino of New Hampshire. Debby also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Irene Golden, 86

Groveland, MA — Irene (Belanger) Golden, 86, of Groveland, formerly of Lawrence and North Andover, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 15, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Leda (Matton) Belanger, and was one of nine children. Irene was a graduate of the former McIntosh Business School in Lawrence, and later was employed by the Textile Workers Union CIO for 10 years, prior to staying home to raise her family. Upon returning to the business world, she was employed as the administrative assistant to the president of the former Arlington Trust Company in Lawrence. She retired in 1987, after 26 years of service, and spent her later years making quilts for her family, friends and homeless shelters.

Joseph was born in Brazil and raised in Newark, N.J., after his family emigrated from Portugal. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an engineer with Raytheon Service Co., and upon retiring in his 70s, he enjoyed gardening, yard and barn work at the house, reading, PBS programming, classical music, art, politics, history, and sports. In recent years, he was a resident of the Osher Inn of Portland, Maine.
