Allenstown, NH — Eleanor M. (Law) Johnston, 90, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Presidential Oaks Nursing Home in Concord, N.H.
Mrs. Johnston was born May 23, 1923, in Methuen, Mass., the daughter of Arthur E. and Clara (Averill) Law and was a longtime resident of Methuen before moving to Allenstown.
Eleanor was a graduate of Woodbury High School in Salem, N.H., and a graduate of Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing. For many years she was a Registered Nurse at Lawrence General Hospital.
Mrs. Johnston had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Methuen, also President of the Church's Women's Group, and Deacon Emeritus Sunday School Teacher at Church. Eleanor also served on the Women's Advisory Board at Berkeley Retirement Center and in New Hampshire was Associate member of First United Methodist Church in Suncook, N.H.
Mrs. Johnston was the widow of William J. Johnston.
Survivors include children, Rev. Cynthia M. and husband, David C. Strosahl, of Biddeford, Maine, Peter W. and his wife, Tammy Johnston, of Allenstown, N.H., Paul A. and wife, Son Johnston, of Northwood, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was predeceased by her daughter, Judith A. Morin.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends will be warmly received on Saturday morning, August 3, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen, with burial to follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, 30 Park St., in Methuen.
