Haverhill — Mr. James L. Warren, 78, of Haverhill, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after being stricken ill suddenly at home.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late, Alton J. and Ruth E. (Gowell) Warren. He attended Lynn public schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1953.
Mr. Warren was employed as a Union Painter and was a member of the Painters Union, Local 1280, Revere, from 1964 until 1995. He then went to work for the Williams Painting Company, located in Derry, N.H., retiring last year.
A devoted husband, father of ten, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he worked and lived for his family. He cherished his time spent with family, attending many athletic events or any extracurricular activities they were involved in. He was known for having a great sense of humor and taking ribbings from his entire family. The “Mr. Fix It” of the family, he painted all of his children’s residences as a labor of love.
He leaves his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy J. (Snow) Warren of Haverhill; his loving children, Linda M. Mazza and her husband, Charles A., of Kingston, N.H., Laurence J. Warren and his wife, Donna, of Exeter, N.H., Cheryl A. Dawidowicz and her fiancé, Demetri DeCicco, of Haverhill, Tammy J. Copeland and her husband, Jeffrey, of Sandown, N.H., Lori A. Wells and her husband, Leonard D., of Greenbush, Maine, Jodi M. Daley, of Haverhill, Holli A. Dallon and her husband, Mark S., of Kingston, N.H., Jami L. Herring and her fiancé, Jamie M. Brown, of Haverhill, and James A. Warren and his wife, Alexandra E., of Salem, Mass.; a sister, Eleanor R. Harrington of Winthrop, Maine; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane L. Warren; great-granddaughter, Alexis Warren; and siblings, Robert Warren and Arlene Allen.
