Methuen — Rose (Margene) Apperti, 89, formerly of Lawrence, passed away surrounded by family on January 20, 2014, at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness.
Born in Lawrence on April 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Appalonia Margene. She was a 1942 graduate of Lawrence High School, and was employed by the Arlington Mills, prior to raising her family.
Rose was an avid reader and enjoyed watching and following her beloved Red Sox. Rose loved to take small road trips and enjoyed every opportunity to be with her family and friends at gatherings. A loving mother and Nana, Rose was predeceased in 1984 by her husband, Albert A. Apperti; her brothers, John and Benjamin Margene; and grandson Andrew Fournier.
She is survived by her sons, Edward Apperti of Naples, Fla., and Albert Apperti and his wifes Donnas of Atkinson, N.H.; her daughters, Kathleen Martin, wife of James A. of Seabrook Beach, N.H., and Andrea DiGloria, wife of Philip of Naples. She leaves behind her cherished sister Angela Ferrara; and her nine grandchildren, John, Dominic, Albert, and Stephen Apperti, Stacy (Martin) Kiley, James, Timothy, Sean and Kevin Martin; and 19 great grandchildren; as well as her nieces and nephews.
The Apperti family would like to give a special thanks to the very dedicated staff of Wing A at the Nevins for all the care, love and support they gave to Rose.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, January 23, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 24, at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
