Lawrence — Marcel L. LaJeunesse, 64, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014, with his loving family by his side, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass.
Marcel was born on June 25, 1949, in Lawrence, Mass., to the late Antoinette (Rodrigue) and the late Leo LaJeunesse. He grew up in Lawrence, graduated from Lawrence High School, and was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church.
Marcel enjoyed reading, and was fascinated with subjects such as Greek mythology, astronomy and Native American culture, just to name a few. As a result, he was a great storyteller and an even better audience. Marcel loved music, especially rock 'n' roll and the blues, and enjoyed going to see bands play live. He even played guitar with friends when he had the chance. He had an extensive education in gardening, botany and geology. He worked as a gardener at the Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover, Mass., for over 30 years, where he took great pride in the landscaping and maintenance of the property, and was a true artist in his abilities. He always loved to be in touch with nature, and he had a great love for animals. He spent his spare time either hiking, camping, or on his Harley. Marcel fondly remembered spending the summers of his youth with his mother and sister visiting his grandparents in Canada and being with family.
Marcel will affectionately be remembered as a kindred spirit, a peacemaker and a gentle soul with a great sense of humor. He was always laughing.
Marcel will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Judith (Johnson) LaJeunesse of Lawrence; his daughter, Andrea (LaJeunesse) Gaudet, her husband, Dan, and their two children, Jacob and Danielle of Reading, Mass.; his sister, Celine (LaJeunesse) Mills of Salem, N.H.; several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Canada.
The family wishes to thank the Merrimack Valley Hospice House for the warm and attentive care they extended to Marcel during his illness.
