York, Maine — Mary A. Moran, 78, of 117 Long Sands Rd., and a former resident of Barefoot Bay, Fla., died Saturday, July 13, 2013, in York Hospital. She was born on Ocober 16, 1934, in Lawrence, Mass., and was a daughter of the late Alfredo and Anna (Morrese) D’Angelo. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School in 1953. She had worked for the former Western Electric Co. in Andover and also Wang Laboratories in Lowell, Mass. Mary loved reading, swimming, bowling, and was very active in Bocci Clubs. She was a member of the British Heritage Club, the Irish Club, the Italian American Club, and was a volunteer with the Micco Fire Dept. in Florida.
She married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert J. Moran Sr., who predeceased her in 2011, after 57 years of marriage. She is survived by a son, Gilbert J. Moran Jr. and his wife, Susanne, of York Beach, Maine; a daughter, Kathleen Moran of Wells, Maine; a daughter-in-law, Katherine Moran of York; three grandsons, Michael Moran and his wife, Stephanie, Daniel Moran and Patrick Moran; and a great-granddaughter, Makayla Moran.
Two sons, John and James Moran, also predeceased her.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, July 17, in St. Christopher’s Church, 4 Barrell Lane in York.
