Haverhill, MA — Ernest D. “Dave” Bombard, Jr., 86, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Ernest and Arlene (Valentine) Bombard, he graduated from the Haverhill Trade School in 1945 and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Bombard was employed as a painter for 20 years with the former Western Electric Co., AT&T Technologies, and Lucent Technologies. He was a member of St. James Parish and the Holy Name Society, the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and Telephone Pioneers of America.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed the buying, restoration, and selling of antiques at Antique World in Haverhill.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion M. (Miller) Bombard; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen D. and Carole Bombard of Byfield and Brian J. and Patricia Bombard of Haverhill; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon M. and Kevin O’Connor of Sandown, N.H., and Christine M. and Jeffrey Owen of Hampstead; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth Bombard and Robert Bombard.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private calling hours will be held at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Church with burial and Military Honors to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
