North Andover — Dorothy May (Grass) Callard, 86, of North Andover, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2013, at the Andover Academy. Dorothy was born in Lawrence on May 1, 1927, to the late Carl and Emily (Hoe) Grass. She was raised and educated in Methuen, having graduated with her Class of 1945 from Searles High School in Methuen. Dorothy worked for the Woodmill in her earlier years and was a department secretary for the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, she also worked for Honeywell and then Digital as an administrative assistant for the Purchasing Department for 13 years until her retirement in 1989. Dorothy enjoyed being a member of the North Andover Women's Club during her free time. She was an avid knitter and baker. Her cookies are missed by all.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Callard, and is survived by her son, Ernest Callard and his wife, Barbara, of North Andover; her grandchildren, Susan Callard of Haverhill, Mary and Richard Callard of North Andover; sister-in-law, Edith Gargreaves of Enfield, Conn.; as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her siblings, Elma Heffernan, Helen Sheehy, Carl Grass and Herbert Grass.
Dorothy's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover for all the loving care given during her stay.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 18, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held prior to her Mass from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover.
