Methuen — Lucia (DiStefano) Currao, 74, of Methuen passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with her loving family by her side. She was born in Adrano, Italy, and was the daughter of the late Nicolo and Giuseppa (Buccheri) DiStefano.
Mrs. Currao was raised and educated in Italy and settled in Lawrence in 1970. She worked as a stitcher at Lawrence Maid and was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Currao is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Giuseppe Currao; her sons, Givanni Currao and his wife, Cheryl, of Salem, N.H., Nicola Currao and his wife, Anna, of Methuen, Agatino Currao and his wife, Grace, of Methuen, Salvatore Currao and his wife, Jean, of Newton, N.H., and Roberto Currao and his wife, Sarah, of Salem, N.H.; her daughters, Vincenza Galizia and her husband, Mario, of Methuen and Josie Greco and her husband, Vincent, of North Andover; her brothers, Giuseppe DiStefano and his wife, Nicolina, of Arizona, Filippo DiStefano and his wife, Rosa, of Italy, Rocco DiStefano and his wife, Grazia, of Italy, Agatino DiStefano and his wife, Carmela, of Italy and Placido DiStefano and his wife, Angela, of Windham, N.H.; and her sisters, Providenza Fina and her husband, Pietro, of Italy and Carmela Humphriss and her husband, Herbert, of Methuen. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, MA. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Interment will follow at Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
