Robert E. Spaulding


Haverhill — Robert E. Spaulding, 85, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2013, at The Oxford. Mr. Spaulding was the husband of Priscilla A. (Perreault) Spaulding.

Born in Rollingsford, N.H., on October 29, 1927, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Bernice (Furbush) Spaulding.

Robert was educated in Haverhill, and graduated from Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1945. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951, where he served as a tank mechanic. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked in the local shoe industry, becoming proficient in operating various machines. Robert then had the opportunity to work for the City of Haverhill, where he supervised the boiler system at the new Haverhill High School. He then joined the custodial staff, and worked at various schools before retiring following 27 years of faithful service.

Robert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and then, supporting his family, attended the First Baptist Church. He was dedicated to his family and was supportive in all their endeavors.

Besides his wife of 57 years, Robert is survived by his daughter, Judith Dickens and her husband, Mike, of Navarre, Fla.; son, David Spaulding and his wife, Cher, of Haverhill; grandchildren, Brad and Alyssa Spaulding, Mark Arsenault and his wife, Tammy, and their daughter, Madison, and Gary Arsenault and his wife, Lexi. He was the brother of the late Harold and Carl Spaulding.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 27, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. At the family’s request there will be no calling hours.
