Boston — Christopher "Pete" A. Mitchell, 44, formerly of Beverly and Lawrence, passed away on July 7, 2014, after a lengthy illness.
He was the devoted and beloved son of Edwina (Winnie) Mitchell of Boston and the late Kenneth E. Mitchell; and proud loving father of Amanda and Kayla of North Andover, Mass. Pete also leaves his cherished brother, Kenneth E. Mitchell Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of Lawrence; sister, Edwina (Winnie) F. Steer of Andover; and his devoted cousin and best friend, Amanda Egan of Hamilton.
Pete, born in Saugus, spent his early years in the Lowell-Tewksbury area, before the family moved to the Lawrence area, where he graduated from Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical High School. During his years in Lawrence, Pete developed an interest in the guitar and composing, and played in a local band on the rise before leaving the band to devote all his free time to his beloved daughters. He still followed music avidly until the end and his guitar sat next to him as he passed. After graduation, Pete went on to build a career with the newly emerged cable company, now called Comcast. During his career with Comcast, Pete designed and helped to build entire cable systems in the South Shore area, and became a talented troubleshooter for the company, before leaving to pursue new opportunities.
During his life, Pete met many people and selflessly helped them with their problems and troubles. His desire to help people less fortunate than himself and his unstoppable sense of humor leaves all who knew him with unforgettable memories of past jokes and incidents.
