Lawrence, MA — Arthur O. Desjardins Jr., 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 4, 2014. Arthur was the son of Alma (Lavallee) and Arthur Desjardins, Sr., and was born on April 9, 1924. Arthur was a World War II veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army, 344 Combat Engineers. He was the foreman of the sanitation department for the City of Lawrence for many years, before retiring in 1979.
Arthur was the widower of Aline Desjardins, and is survived by his daughters, Donna M. Cain and her husband, Daniel, and Ann M. Frechette, wife of the late Frank Frechette; his brother, George and his wife, Marianne; and his sister, Doris Lane, wife of the late Ray Lane. He was predeceased by his brothers, Leo, Renee and Roland; and his sisters, Irene and Rita.
He was cared for by his niece, Laura Judkins. He was also the stepfather of Diane, Donald and Richard Vivier. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Scott Cain, Nicole Johnson, Shauna Andrade and Shari Sullivan; his eight great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews.
He amused many with his wild antics and playful ways. His generosity had no bounds and his humor showed in his sparkling blue eyes. His loss will be felt by all who knew him.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held at St. Theresa's in Methuen, Mass., on Thursday, July 10, at 9 a.m.
