Haverhill — George A. Wickson III, of Haverhill, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 8, at his home.
Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late, George A. Jr. and Dorothy E. (Libbey) Wickson. He attended Burlington Public Schools and was a Graduate of Rindge Tech High School, in Cambridge, Class of 1968. A well respected, kind hearted, generous businessman, George was well known throughout the area. He began his career as a mechanic at the local Shell Station in Burlington, and would serve those in need for the next five decades. The owner and operator of Wickson Inc. in Haverhill, at one time operated four Mobil Gas and Service Stations, and a towing company, three in Haverhill and one in Tewksbury.
George’s life revolved around helping people, he truly knew the meaning of service. He lived for his work. On occasion when he had spare time he enjoyed deep sea fishing, or being at the sea shore, and going out for a good meal.
He leaves four children; George A. Wickson IV, and his girlfriend, Jacquelyn Doucette, Andrew Wickson, Daniel Wickson, and Kerri Wickson, all of Haverhill; two brothers; Richard L. and his wife Joanne, of Derry, and Brian “Ted” and his wife Sandra, of Salem, NH; a sister, Linda J. Sarno and her husband, John, of Bedford, a granddaughter, Brooke Wickson, and nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, December 12, at 10:00 AM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Burial will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St. Tewksbury. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11 AM until 1 PM and 4 until 8 PM.
