Rochester, N.H. — Jacqueline L. (Osgood) McNeil, 76, of Portsmouth, N.H. and formerly of Haverhill died Monday morning, December 10, at Lowell General Hospital.
She was born in Haverhill, February 14, 1936 daughter of the late Effie (Osgood) Walker-Benoit and was educated in the Haverhill school system, graduating from Haverhill High School, class of 1954.
Mrs. McNeil earned her RN from Nashua Memorial School of Nursing in 1959. She was employed in local nursing homes and at the former Hale Hospital. In 1960 she moved to Everett and worked at Boston City Hospital Pediatric Unit. After her marriage in 1961 she moved back to Haverhill and was employed at Lawrence General Hospital and in area nursing homes. Mrs. McNeil also resided in Medway and Southbridge where she was employed in nursing homes.
She was a member of the Portsmouth, NH Salvation Army, VFW Lorraine Post #29, Haverhill, American Legion, Haverhill, and attended monthly meetings with her former colleagues.
Her survivors include two sons, Mark M.G. McNeil of Rochester, N.H., Christopher E. McNeil of Nevada; two brothers, Paul Walker of Charlton, Russell “Rusty” Walker of Osipee, N.H.; sisters-in-law, Lisa Mimms and Joy Walker; as well as several nieces and nephews among whom are Shae, Keri and Kasee Walker with whom she shared many fond holiday memories. Mrs. McNeil was also the sister of the late William Walker and Helen Mimms and sister-in-law of the late John Mimms.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral service on Thursday from 10:30 to 12:45. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill & Bradford.
