North Andover — Doris A. (Albrecht) Cleary, 94 of North Andover, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation. Doris was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Alice (Jette) Albrecht.
Doris was born in North Andover and lived her whole life there. She could be seen walking all over town until just a few years ago. She graduated from Johnson High School in North Andover and taught Sunday School at St. Michael’s Church at an early age.
She has been involved in 4H since 1928 in various roles, including being the Topsfield Fair building committee treasurer, judge at the fair and leader of many groups, teaching hundreds of youngsters knitting, sewing and gardening. She got her Mother and Father involved in 4H when she was young, and later, her husband and children as well. She has won awards for her sewing skills. Her numerous awards for her knitting creations extend to being a National winner.
Besides her volunteer work at the North Andover Senior Center, she was also active in the North Andover and West Boxford Granges for 73 years. She was a member of the Heritage Pomona.
She worked at JP Stevens and at the IRS in Andover when she wasn’t staying home, caring for her family.
Doris is predeceased by her husband, Harold Cleary and her son, Robert Cleary.
She will be greatly missed by her son James of North Andover; her daughter-in-law Brenda Cleary of Somersworth NH; grandsons Michael Cleary, and his wife Stephanie of Berwick, ME; Kevin Cleary, and his wife Katie, of Northwood, NH; and Thorne Mailloux and his wife Lucy of Chandler, Arizona. She also leaves three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Monday, December 17th at 10AM in St. Michael Church, North Andover. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 in the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover.
