Kingston, NH — Charles W. Kolias, 94, of Kingston, and longtime, former resident of Walton Road, Plaistow, for 60 years, died on June 2, 2014, at Oceanside Nursing Center in Hampton, N.H.
Born in Lowell, Mass., and raised and educated in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Helen (Poulosofos) Kolias. He graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1940. He went on to attend Cambridge University.
Mr. Kolias served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Mr. Kolias was employed as an engineer’s technician for Bell Labs and then at Lucent Technologies as a test technician, until his retirement.
A member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, he enjoyed weight lifting in his younger years, the outdoors, camping, hiking, and hunting. An avid reader, he also enjoyed studying astronomy and listening to classical music.
He was predeceased by his wife, Maxine (Faxon) (Post) Kolias, and is survived by five sons, Russell Post Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Danville, William Kolias and his wife, Gerda, of Newton, N.H., John Kolias and his wife, Michelle, of Raymond, David Kolias and his wife, Suzanne, of Kingston, and Charles Kolias Jr. of Danville; three daughters, Carlene Mayo and her husband, Robert, of Danville, Jane Kolias of Concord, N.H., and Tina Bouraphael and her husband, James, of Kingston; and many many members of the extended generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, George Kolias.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 4, from 12 to 1 p.m., at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. His funeral service will take place on Wednesday, at 1:15 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Plaistow Cemetery.
