Windham, NH — Margaret (McEwan) Smith, age 75, of Windham, N.H., died peacefully Wednesday at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.
Margaret was born in Arbroath, Scotland, where she grew up. She came to the United States in 1967 and resided in Andover. She eventually moved to Windham, N.H., where she had lived for the past 25 years.
Margaret and her husband, Bob, ran the Wilbert Hotel at Hampton Beach, where Margaret was a mom to many. She was employed by Tyre Rubber early on and retired from Semiconductor Circuits in the 80s. Margaret was an excellent bowler and played on many leagues at Park Place Lanes. Margaret loved to dance and was one of the best jivers in Arboath. She was also a lover of crosswords.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert B.R. Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn M. and her husband, William Shaw of Andover; son, Robert W. Smith of Windham, N.H.; brother, Frank McEwan of Scotland; sister, Agnes Ellis of England; grandchildren, Jason, Leanne, and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Justin and Jacob, several nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be Sunday, June 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, N.H. Funeral services will be celebrated Monday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
